I like movies. Not as much as my husband who goes to the theater a lot. There are several movies I am excited to see in the upcoming year. I'm known for learning as much as I can about a movie before seeing it.
Sex and The City Movie - May 30, 2008
I am a BIG no HUGE fan of the show. I am SO excited about the movie. The best part, atleast for me, is that Jennifer Hudson is in it! She is playing Carrie's assistant. If you are a fan of the show, now in serious reruns, you know that African-Americans were not often on the show. Blair Underwood was Miranda's love interest in the last season. Other than that "we" were rare just like we were on the TV show Friends.
There are many articles and pictures around the Internet about the movie, which started filming this past September. There are pictures of Carrie in a wedding dress, that fits the character's personality so well, and the other ladies in different color gowns outside of a NYC church. Everyone believes that Carrie marries Big since his character is also in the movie.
I am Legend - December 14, 2007
Will Smith plays Robert Neville, the last man in NYC and possibly earth after a man made virus wipes out the population. His companion for half the movie is only his dog, a German shepherd. Will and Jada's daughter, Willow, makes her debut appearance in the film as Will's character's daughter. I have to admit Will and Jada know how to keep the money in the family! Two of their three children have been in Will's movies. I swear I love smart folks!
This movie is an adaptation of the 1954 novel of the same name by Richard Matheson. It was filmed in New York. There is a 5 million dollar scene on the Brooklyn Bridge! That's the most expensive shot in that city to date!
The Women - October 2008
This is a remake of a 1939 movie with the same name. It centers on a close-knit group of gossipy, high-society women who spend their days at the beauty shop and fashion shows. The most respected member finds herself fighting to win her husband back after he starts having an affair with one of the women who work at the beauty shop.
This movie stars Meg Ryan, Jada Pinkett Smith, Debra Messing and Eva Mendes to name a few. Like in the original version of the film, no one appearing on screen is male! Not even those in the background. I think this film will be good and different.
Yesterday I saw This Christmas.
I enjoyed the movie. I was not sure how much I'd like it but it was good. There were several actors I like in the movie.
A few weeks ago I saw American Gangster.
I researched the movie and Frank Lucas before the movie came out. I had to see it once I learned how Frank cut out the middle man and smuggled his own drugs from overseas. This man was making a million dollars a day back in the 80s! This is my type of guy! A business man! Putting aside the fact the heroin he sold was purer than anything else on the streets at the time which caused many deaths and addictions. He was an innovative business man.
I enjoyed this movie too but enjoyed learning about the process to get the film made and Frank too. Denzel was paid $20 million before even filming the movie because the original production was cancelled but his contract stated he'd get a certain amount either way. He was also paid a for the actual filmed movie.
