This was my first wedding blog! Originally posted on Sept 9, 2007
I've been dealing with alot and decided to use this as an outlet for it all. I've been writing in many forms since I was 9 so it's a natural outlet for me. If someone reads this that's great, if not cool.
As it says on my profile I am engaged to a recently re-inlisted Army man. I am honestly not the biggest military fan. Not trying to sound non-patriotic but I've never been a fan of moving your family around every few years. Other than that I do understand that someone's got to do every job that exist. Anyway we were engaged on 4th of July so were planning for a 4th of July weekend wedding in 08. Though while FI has been in training in Texas I've decided to move it up because I didn't see the point in waiting so long. Plus I'm naturally a "I want what I want when I want it" type of girl. (Youngest by 10 years and very spoiled since I was born! LOL Gotta love me though) So March 1st 08 it is, or so we plan, with 30 - 50 guest instead of 100+. More money in my pocket too!
Over the last week I've gotten a real feel for what military life has to offer in several ways. The first check with BAH on it was very nice, but having FI's duty station and training time change was not so nice. We were originally told that FI would start training part 1 at the end of July and the class would end on Oct 1st. Then he would start another class which would end in about 3 months. We found out in the middle of Aug that the class didn't start until Jan and would not end until April. He would be stationed there until it ended, which meant if he came back to Atlanta he would hve to take leave.
He came home for Labor Day and had a lovely weekend with me . He returned to Texas on Mon. We found out Tues that somebody on his base didn't want to pay him and his fellow classmates taking Part 2 of his training, which is not required, to "sit around" until Jan. They would have to report to their duty stations and then apply to go to Part 2. We were not too happy about this because we had made arangements according to the orginal plan, but hey ok.
We find out on Wed evening his duty station is in Germany for atleast 2 years!! Yes I said Germany. Meanwhile I have a 5 year old daughter whom I share joint custody with her father. FI was devasted and I was angry about the news because we knew if I went I would have to leave my daughter in the states most of the time. So we decided I wouldn't go. He began the procedure to get the duty station changed, but there's no guarentee and we won't know for about a week or so. Which basically means that I am trying to move our wedding up to Oct. I actually have found several places very understanding of our situation and willing to help without additionally fees. But geezs... I'm literally like "what now" when the phone rings.
